Calverton Captures League Championships in Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer, and Golf
Girls Soccer capped of a perfect 19-0 season with a 4-0 win over Rockbridge as they locked down their third straight crown in last night’s M.I.S.A.L. Championships game. Cat Chase led all scorers with 2 goals and Hope Perry and Beth Bunn each added a goal. Katie Tarry made 4 saves as she went the distance to record the shutout. Following the game, Beth Bunn was announced as the M.I.S.A.L. Player of the Year.
Boys Soccer got off to a fast start scoring an early goal on a great play by Dillon Draper, and an excellent finish by Will Lerch. They never looked back as they notched a 3-1 win over WCA to earn their third straight M.I.S.A.L. Championship. Brian Bowling was selected as the M.I.S.A.L. Player of the Year.
The Varsity Golf team was able to avenge two regular season losses to Riverdale and post their second lowest round of the season, a 171 to earn their 9th straight M.I.S.A.L. Tournament Championship. Ty Herriott earned the individual Championship posting a 39. Calverton placed 5 golfers in the top 10. Teddy Secor (42, T-3rd), Mike Hicks (44, T-5th), Ryan Jenkins (46, T-7th), Nick Mazza (47, T-9th). Jordan Washington rounded out the scoring with a 49 to finish in 13th place.
