About Mrs. Briscoe

As a Calverton Alum and current parent of students in the fifth and eigth grades, I am thrilled to be here as Calverton's Academic Support and School Counselor. I graduated from Calverton in 1988 and went off to Mary Washington College, graduating in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

I began working at a crisis home for chronically mentally ill adults while I completed my Master's Degree in Social Work at the University of Maryland in 1994. During my training in the clinical aspects of social work, I discovered my desire to apply this knowledge to children and began a full time job at the Calvert County Mental Health Clinic as a Child Psychotherapist. Then, a few years later I went back to The University of Maryland to obtain a specialty certification in the Clinical Treatment of Children and Adolescents.

Six years later, with experience working in the public schools, the Department of Social Services and the private sector, I began working in my own private practice. I have served part time as the psychological consultant at Calverton since 2002, assisting the teachers in supporting the social and emotional needs of our students and was offered the position of Academic Support in February of 2008. In June of 2008,  I completed the School Attuned course for assisting children with learning differences and have continued through other workshops to advance my knowledge in this area.

As a family, my children, James and Delaney, and my husband, Parran and I, love to boat on the summer weekends and take our annual trip at Christmas to Key West. I am also a personal trainer and love to teach group fitness classes.
